RZ-Ecoseal E Asbestos Encapsulant

RZ-Ecoseal E is an independently tested encapsulation coating designed to create a durable, continuous barrier over suitable asbestos-containing materials, helping to lock fibres securely in place and reduce the risk of them becoming airborne. Its supporting performance testing includes the CIM 438 Water Vapour Permeability Test, which recorded a high water-vapour resistance factor of 677.75, together with the CIM 438 Condensation Test and Thermal Conductivity Test, demonstrating the coating’s moisture-resistance and stable barrier properties. RZ-Ecoseal E has also achieved an A2-s1,d0 reaction-to-fire classification under EN 13501-1, providing additional reassurance when used as part of a professionally assessed asbestos-management solution.

RZ-Ecoseal E FAQs

  • What is asbestos encapsulation?

Asbestos encapsulation involves applying a specialist coating over suitable asbestos-containing materials to seal the surface and help prevent fibres from being released into the air.

  • Does RZ-Ecoseal E remove asbestos?

No. RZ-Ecoseal E is an encapsulation coating, not an asbestos-removal product. It is designed to seal asbestos-containing materials in place where encapsulation has been assessed as an appropriate management solution.

  • When is encapsulation suitable?

Encapsulation may be suitable when the asbestos-containing material is in a stable condition and is unlikely to be regularly disturbed. A competent asbestos professional should assess the material before any work begins.

  • Can RZ-Ecoseal E be applied directly over damaged asbestos?

The condition of the material must be assessed first. Severely damaged, deteriorating or loose asbestos-containing materials may require repair or licensed removal rather than encapsulation.

  • Does encapsulated asbestos still need to be managed?

Yes. Encapsulation does not remove the asbestos, so the material should remain recorded within the building’s asbestos register and management plan. The coated area should also be inspected periodically to ensure the protective barrier remains intact.
